Baptism is the beginning of new life in Christ. Through the waters of baptism, we are:
BORN INTO NEW LIFE: We are spiritually reborn as God’s children and united with him.
CLEANSED OF ALL SIN: ALL our sins are forgiven and we are given the grace to fight future temptation.
RECEIVING THE HOLY SPIRIT: We first receive the Holy Spirit as comforter, guide and strength for living a Christian life.
MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH: We are received into the Body of Christ, the Church.
Preparation For The Sacrament of Baptism
Parents seeking baptism for infants or children under the age of seven should contact the church office to obtain information and pre-register for classes. St. Louis Catholic Church provides a comprehensive, four-segment Baptism program for parents and godparents.
Step 1 - Submit a Baptism Application to Theresa Wright in the PEC Building. You may also obtain an application in person in the PEC Building.
Step 2 - Pre-register for baptism classes when you submit your baptism application at the parish office.
Step 3 - Attend all four Sunday classes 9 a.m.–11 a.m. In two-parent families, both parents should attend all classes. Childcare is available upon request for infants – 4 yrs. Godparent(s) need only attend the last session.
Step 4 - Once all classes are completed, return the signed baptism application with the following paperwork to the church office:
- Copy of the official state birth record of child.
- Godparent Covenant Form – to be filled out by godparent (See eligibility requirements).
