Mission

To share the Gospel with our incarcerated brothers and sisters and to provide the faith community with an opportunity to minister to those who are imprisoned. To advocate for criminal justice issues that are consistent with the Gospel and our Catholic Social Teaching.

About This Ministry

The Jail and Prison Ministry takes the Catholic presence to young people who have been detained at the Gardner-Betts Juvenile Justic Center by providing a time of faith sharing, prayer and instruction by praying the Rosary and assisting them in returning to their local parish home. More than half of the young people who are in Gardner-Betts indicate they are of the Catholic Faith.

The Jail and Prison Ministry is committed to bringing the message of God's forgiving love and hope for those who reach out for help. They provide opportunities for one on one listening, along with spiritual companionship.

Why Jail and Prison Ministry

Catholic Social Teaching teaches us of the Dignity and Life of a Human Person. Every human person is created in the image and likeness of God. Each person has a sacred value, worth and dignity. It is both the victim which has been wounded and the most insensitve criminal that retain their humanity. The lost who have been found are to be welcomed and celebrated, not resented and rejected.

Come Volunteer

Individuals over the age of 18 are needed to participate in sharing God's love to those that have been incarcerated at Gardner-Betts Juvenile Justice Center. If interested, contact information below.
