Children's Liturgy

Mission

"Throughout his ministry, our Lord Jesus Christ had a special concern for children. When his disciples tried to prevent parents from bringing their children to Jesus to bless them, the Lord became angry and reminded the disciples: 'Let the children come to me! Do not try to stop them. People who are like these little children belong to the kingdom of God (Mark 10:14)." Lectionary for Masses with children

Curriculum

The children will hear the first and second reading, and the Gospel; the same as their parents using the Children's Liturgy of the Word. This allows the parents and children the opportunity to discuss the Gospel after Mass. A homily including activities, discussion questions, and meditations allows the children to celebrate what they have heard. The Nicene Creed is recited along with prayers of the faithful. Children are brought back into the Church during offertory to continue the celebration of Mass with their parents.

Class Times

Children's Liturgy is held during the 9:30 and 11:30 Masses for children ages 3 years to 2nd grade in the Chapel. Children are dismissed after the opening prayer for their own Liturgy of the Word.
