Planning a Wedding at St. Louis Church
Are you planning marriage?
St. Louis Catholic Church staff looks forward to working with you to make your wedding a memorable occasion.
A Catholic wedding is more than a solemn exchange of vows.
It is a public act of worship in which the bride and groom come together to celebrate a sacrament, to offer thanks and praise together with their family and friends, and to ask God's blessing on their life together as husband and wife.
The journey to the Sacrament of Marriage involves many steps, but your faith community is here to assist you every step of the way. At St. Louis, these steps are as follows:
Notify the Church office and get information from the wedding coordinator at least six-to-nine months in advance of your intended wedding date. Call Evelyn McNair (512.454.0384 ext. 209) or
email.
Prepare to meet with a priest or deacon by obtaining an updated current baptism certificate (for the Catholic party) from your Church of Baptism. Then contact the wedding coordinator to assist you in scheduling your first appointment with clergy. Over a series of appointments, the clergy will determine your freedom to marry, prepare your marriage file, direct you to the appropriate marriage program(s), schedule your date and help you plan your ceremony.
Register for a structured marriage preparation class or retreat weekend. St. Louis offers a series entitled
One in the Lord. Ask about upcoming classes or contact Theresa Wright (512.454.0384 ext. 222) or by
email.
Once the wedding is scheduled by clergy, the wedding coordinator will send you a packet of information, including fees, guidelines and invite you to meet with her for a brief appointment about options available to couples marrying at St. Louis.
After meeting with the wedding coordinator, the couple should contact the parish organist and discuss
the musical options available. Click this link for more information on the
music selection as well as contact information.
On the day of your wedding, a parish wedding monitor will be available to assist any visiting clergy,
set out any rentals, answer questions by photographers and florists and insure that wedding guidelines are followed so that
the maximum deposit can be returned to you.
While the staff of St. Louis Church is available to assist you in preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage, it
is the support and tithes of the generous parishioners that make our marriage programs and facilities
possible. Consequently, fees for the rental of facilities are assessed according to parishioner or non-parishioner status. The Pastoral Council has defined a parishioner as one who has been a registered
member of the parish for at least 6 months and a regular, documented giver during the same period. For
more information, contact the wedding coordinator mentioned above.
