Welcome to St. Louis King of France Childhood Ministry Program. Our Religious Education program prepares our children for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation. The program also offers basic religious knowledge and continuing faith formation for children in grades Pre-K through 8th grade. But, it is not just a Religious Ed. Program; it is a journey of faith that continues through life. It begins with the parents at home and is reinforced by our weekly classes. Our programs are as varied as the instruction we utilize which includes: teaching to learning styles and multiple intelligence; Catechesis of the Good Shepherd uses a catechetical approach inspired by Montessori methodology; Sacramental Preparation for First Reconciliation, Communion and Confirmation is enhanced with activities and retreats; and The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) adapted for children gives the children opportunities to participate in rites and blessings.
Classes begin in September and take place every week through May.
All families must register their children every year. Registrations will be received now through August 15. You may choose to fill out the electronic form below or stop by the LCF office.
The LCF office hours are Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.; 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

It is very important for your child to attend class regularly and to be on time.
Our Religious Education program is successful only when we are in partnership with you, parents/guardians. While the instruction and formation we provide are the building blocks of a growing faith life, the foundation is laid and reinforced by you within the family structure. Full participation in parish life, including regular Mass attendance, allows the children the opportunity to feel part of the parish community. It gives meaning to the concepts they are learning about God, Jesus and their Catholic faith.
What is required?
Required first and foremost is a desire to learn more about your faith. The family must be registered parishioners at St Louis King of France Catholic Church. It is a two year process for First Communion and Confirmation and children must attend both years of classes to receive the sacrament. Parents whose child is to receive their First Communion or Confirmation must provide a copy of their child's Baptismal Certificate at the time of registration.
Registered Parishioners of St. Louis
*There is an additional book fee of $25.00 for students preparing to receive the sacraments.
The Parent's Responsibility
Please discuss with your child the importance of being respectful toward their catechist, co-teachers and aides. Also, please stress the importance of behaving appropriately while in class and in church. You may also want to explain, in your own words, why your child is a part of the faith formation program. Parents play a vital role in the preparation of their child. Parents are required to attend to an Orientation Meeting in which they are given information about the program and other seasonal events like Advent and End of the Year Parties. Parents of children in the second year of R.E. (Sacramental Preparation Class) are also required to attend retreats and weekly meetings that take place while their child is in class. They share in this great responsibility of preparing their child to receive the Sacraments and in forming their faith.
Who Teaches Religious Education?
St. Louis is fortunate to have many people who are eager and willing to share their faith with our children. In Childhood Ministry, we have over 70 volunteers who give freely of their time to teach on a weekly basis. It is certainly an exciting testimony to the vibrant, active parish we are when so many give so much!
A Catechist is a caring individual who is willing to volunteer and share their love of God and their time with our children. They are not theologians but they are committed to their own growth as adult Catholics. Class time and lesson preparation take approximately 2-4 hours a week. The curriculum is set for each class. A co-teacher is a helpful individual that attends class each week, and who shares the responsibility for planning the sessions and presenting the lessons. An aide is a kind, responsible individual who is willing to assist the catechist in the classroom with duties such as taking attendance, passing out supplies, assisting with projects, etc.
