Ministerial Character

The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish (St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and School – Austin, Texas) which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Positions employed at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and School – Austin, Texas help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to, and assists the Pastor in, the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.

Job Summary:

The Coordinator of Senior Activities is responsible for providing parish seniors with opportunities for social interaction, friendship, and spiritual growth, and for facilitating relationship building so that seniors maintain connection to the parish community. This is a part-time, work-from-home position.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Coordinate and manage the weekly Wednesday Brunch Club.

  • Coordinate quarterly informational workshops on topics of interest such as AARP driving courses, learning new technology, etc.

  • Coordinate and manage the fall Senior Appreciation Luncheon.

  • Coordinate and manage one major event in the spring (field trip or a day of prayer/retreat).

  • Advertise as many other ministries in the parish as possible so seniors will learn about spiritual, liturgical, and social events such as the Pastor’s Series, guest speakers, concerts, etc.

  • Establish and manage an annual budget in collaboration with the Director of Adult Catechesis and the Chief Operating Officer.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Training:

  • High School Diploma.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of ministry and/or volunteer experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid Texas driver’s license.

  • Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
